While there is growing interest in sustainability issues within the clothing industry, currently there is no common definition of what sustainable fashion actually means.

Producing sustainable clothing is the very foundation on which TG Sports was founded. It isn’t something we’re trying to do with an existing brand. We live and breathe it every day. Our athletes deserve it and, more importantly, our planet requires it.

According to Green Strategy, “sustainable fashion can be defined as clothing, shoes and accessories that are manufactured, marketed and used in the most sustainable manner possible, taking into account both environmental and socio-economic aspects. In practice, this implies continuous work to improve all stages of the product’s life cycle, from design, raw material production, manufacturing, transport, storage, marketing and final sale, to use, reuse, repair, remake and recycling of the product and its components.” While accurate it isn’t easy to say in the proverbial ‘elevator speech.’

TG Sports defines sustainable clothing as having the least amount of environmental impact while respecting the rights of the workers and the communities in which they work. What do think of that definition?

Despite growing interest, there remains a strong undercurrent of negative perceptions attached to the apparel, footwear, and textile industry, fueled
especially in Europe and the US by negative media coverage around global value chains. For a notable number of consumers, the narrative of poor pay and conditions for workers is strongly embedded in the image of
the industry. Thankfully, there is increasing awareness of the impacts associated with “fast,” “cheap” fashion – creating a surge in guilt attached to buying new clothes for some.

Accordingly, it is the goal of TG Sports to be completely transparent across the board in how we source, transport, manufacture, sell, and deliver our sustainable clothing to you, the customer. We further believe it is our mission to educate the public and act as a powerful voice in crafting public policy that ensures a clean and healthy environment.
