While there is growing interest in sustainability issues within the clothing industry, currently there is no common definition of what sustainable fashion actually means. Producing sustainable clothing is the very foundation on which TG Sports was founded. It isn't something we're trying to do with an existing brand. We live and breathe it every day. Our athletes deserve it and, more importantly, our planet requires it. Steven R. Herron, Founder, TG Sports According to Green Strategy, "sustainable fashion can be defined as clothing, shoes and accessories that are manufactured, marketed and used in the most sustainable manner possible, taking into account both environmental and socio-economic aspects. In practice, this implies continuous work to improve all stages of the product’s life cycle, from design, raw material production, manufacturing, transport, storage, marketing and final sale, to use, reuse, repair, remake and recycling of the product and its components." While accurate it isn't easy to say in the proverbial 'elevator speech.' TG Sports defines sustainable clothing as having the least amount of environmental impact while respecting the rights of the workers and the communities in which they work. What do think of that definition? Despite growing interest, there remains a strong undercurrent of negative perceptions attached to the apparel, footwear, and textile industry, fueledespecially in Europe and the US by negative media coverage around global value chains. For a notable number of consumers, the narrative of poor pay and conditions for workers is strongly embedded in the image ofthe industry. Thankfully, there is increasing awareness of the impacts associated with “fast,” “cheap” fashion – creating a surge in guilt attached to buying new clothes for some. Accordingly, it is the goal of TG Sports to be completely transparent across the board in how we source, transport, manufacture, sell, and deliver our sustainable clothing to you, the customer. We further believe it is our mission to educate the public and act as a powerful voice in crafting public policy that ensures a clean and healthy environment.
The TG Sports Commitment to You and The Environment TG Sports promise is to provide you with the highest quality, best performing, and most sustainable sports apparel possible. TG Sports' founders understand the commitment endurance athletes make to maintaining top conditioning for performance and health. Most triathletes, cyclists, duathletes, marathon and ultra-marathon runners, and other athletes closely monitor what they eat, exercise portion control (sometimes down to the miligram scale!) and hydrate with pure water. Team Ganja is committed to that same standard with respect to the environment and ecological preservation in addition to producing the highest quality racing gear available anywhere.
Hemp vs Cotton: An Objective View HEMP Porous & Breathable: hemp fibers are porous so they allow your skin to breathe. The fiber also softens with age while being mildew resistant. This makes hemp an excellent source for shirts, carpet, and towels.More Durable: hemp fiber is more durable and stronger than cotton. During WW2, hemp fiber was known to make the world’s strongest rope. Eco-friendly: Cotton is a water-intensive crop and uses 25% of the world’s pesticides – not a very Earth-friendly crop. Hemp requires 50% less water to grow than cotton and requires no use of pesticides. COTTON Some of the benefits of organic cotton clothing include better health for consumers and farmers, environmental conservation, and cost savings for farmers. These benefits have created a boom in the organic cotton clothing industry in the past few years. Parents are increasingly purchasing organic cotton baby clothes, diapers, and baby blankets. Both young and old consumers, and men as well as women, are switching to various products made from organic cotton such as jeans, pajamas, shirts, t-shirts, towels, bedding, mattresses, pillows, blankets, sheets, duvet covers, socks, bath robes, underwear, bras, bags, and other clothes made of organic cotton fabric and yarn.
Seven years after a deadly fire claimed the lives of more than 250 people at a garment factory in Pakistan, workers continue to risk their lives in deathtrap workplaces, according to a new report. How does that make you feel? It doesn't have to be that way. TG Sports manufactures sports apparel that is ethical, respects the rights of workers and improves their communities without using toxic chemicals or releasing toxic gases into the environment.
